Do you think Pigs Might Fly?
When we told people we were going to put on a rocking inspirational conference for start-ups, entrepreneurs and developers at Battersea Power Station a few people had looks on faces like Pigs might fly.
Its been an incredible journey and we are almost sold out, there are a few tickets left if you are quick.
I was joking about on Twitter yesterday morning about inflatable pigs and talking about the famous Pink Floyd publicity stunt at Battersea Power station for their amazing 10th (Tenth!) studio album, Animals, released in 1977.
Seeing this tweet the cogs obviously started whirling in the head of Paul Lewis of A/R company Mediagrand. Within an hour he had found a 3D image of a large pig and created an Augmented Reality Layar for the Power of One. Then the lovely people at Layar rushed through the publication of the layar so that it would be ready and tested for the event on Friday.
What is Layar and Augmented Reality?
Its an application on your smartphone that allows you to see virtual objects (augmented) on top of the real world which is viewed through the camera of your phone. Its a difficult concept to explain in words but download the layar app and see for your self. My particular favourite is a mediagrand created layar that gives me a A/R guide to all of the pubs in my home town of Bath.
In the case of the Power of One Layar it simply displays a massive floating pig above Battersea Power Station just like the Animals cover. It can be seen from all over london :)
So if you are in London now or coming to Battersea on Friday get out your phone open the Layar app and search for "power of one" then point your camera about the power station to recreate that iconic rock moment just for you. There will be a prize for best tweeted photo at the event on Friday.
Thanks to Oliver (@36degrees) for the photo from Euston Tower today.
